Job summary

Bechtel is expanding its environmental permits program in Argentina, coordinating regulatory compliance for mining, energy and infrastructure projects. The role bridges engineering design and regulatory requirements to ensure timely approvals and adherence to environmental standards.

The candidate will oversee permit strategies, interact with authorities, and guide environmental studies from planning through to approval, ensuring project schedule alignment and high-quality documentation.

Qualifications

• University degree in Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Natural Resources, Geological Sciences or Biological Sciences with professional registration.
• 5–8 years of professional practice in environmental management and permits; mining/energy/infrastructure in Argentina preferred.
• Intermediate to advanced technical English; native Spanish required for regulatory work.
• Experience interacting with provincial and national authorities and supervising environmental consultancies.
• Knowledge of environmental impact assessment, monitoring plans, and regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and update the permits matrix with deadlines and responsible bodies.
• Submit Environmental Impact Reports and biennial updates with required documentation.
• Manage sectoral permits: water use, effluent, emissions, hazardous waste, soil movement.
• Maintain dialogue with authorities, respond to observations, and manage audits.
• Define baselines for air/water/soil and supervise consultants.
