Job summary

Bechtel in Argentina seeks an Environmental Permitting Specialist to manage the obtaining, maintenance and monitoring of environmental and sectoral permits for the project. You will translate regulatory requirements into verifiable design criteria and ensure compliance with national and provincial rules, while aligning with the project schedule.

You will interact with authorities, supervise environmental baselines and coordinate with engineering to minimize regulatory risks and avoid detentions.

Qualifications

• University degree in Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Natural Resources, Geological Sciences or Biological Sciences; professional registration.
• 5–8 years in environmental management and permits; 3+ years in mining/energy/infrastructure in Argentina.
• Graduate degree in environmental management, environmental impact assessment or environmental law desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain permits matrix, identify competent body and deadlines.
• Prepare, review and submit Environmental Impact Report and biennial updates.
• Manage water use, effluent, emissions, hazardous waste and soil movement permits.
• Maintain dialogue with provincial/national authorities and respond to audits.
• Alert critical permits and propose sequencing alternatives to protect schedule.
• Define environmental baselines and supervise consultants.
• Review deliverables for methodological sufficiency and data traceability.
• Estimate hours, costs and deadlines for environmental studies.
• Track environmental commitments and produce progress reports.
• Support citizen participation and community relations with project team.
• Deliver environmental documents within the project control system.
