Citizens Memorial Hospital (CMH) is recruiting a Registered Nurse (RN) Educator for Peri-Operative Services! CMH is made up of 34 primary and specialty clinics, 6 Long‑Term Care facilities, and 1 residential care facility. Offering acute care, emergency services, ambulatory care, pharmacies, walk‑in clinics, surgeries, addiction recovery, therapies and more, CMH has its community covered!

About the department

Our OR consists of 23 talented Surgeons who perform an average of 372 surgeries/month! The OR has 6 outpatient, 3 inpatient, and 1 C‑section designated suites that run 4‑5 teams of staff/day. The surgeons work to educate, train, and develop staff to operate fluidly together.

Job Summary

The Peri‑Operative Services Educator is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs and competencies for perioperative staff to ensure the delivery of safe, evidence‑based patient care. This role serves as a clinical resource and mentor, promoting professional growth, competency, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Educator collaborates with leadership, surgeons, and interdisciplinary teams to assess learning needs, support orientation and onboarding of new staff, and facilitate ongoing staff development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops, coordinates, and evaluates orientation and continuing education programs for OR staff.
  • Serves as a clinical expert and mentor in surgical nursing practices, infection control, and patient safety.
  • Assesses staff competency and provides remediation and coaching as needed.
  • Collaborates with leadership to ensure compliance with hospital policies, AORN standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports quality improvement, evidence‑based practice initiatives, and staff participation in performance improvement projects.
  • Facilitates education on new equipment, procedures, and technologies introduced in the OR.
  • Promotes a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of recent perioperative experience.
  • CNOR and/or certification in nursing education preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and teaching skills.
  • Physical: Ability to stand up to 66% of your day, exerting 20 to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or 10–25 lbs of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 lbs of force constantly.

This position is Full‑Time, Days.

  • 12‑hour shifts
  • 3 days a week (one of those days must cover a Monday or Friday)
