Job description

As our third-party operations continue to evolve in a demanding work environment, we are seeking a dedicated Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Officer to support our partners in managing health and safety risks and employee wellbeing.

The ideal candidate will put safety standards into practice, lead projects to raise safety awareness, and support management's efforts to ensure compliance with all program expectations and applicable regulations. With a proactive approach, you will help drive a safety culture by conducting regular audits, managing safety metrics, and providing guidance on safety-related processes across our third-party operations. You will also play a crucial advisory role for managers, helping investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.

Key job responsibilities

Reporting to the Country WHS Manager, tasks will include:

  1. Conducting regular site visits to evaluate safety conditions and provide recommendations for operational improvements.
  2. Carrying out risk assessments and safety audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and local safety procedures.
  3. Monitoring and analyzing safety metrics, creating reports, and reviewing incident trends to identify areas requiring attention.
  4. Supporting the implementation of new safety measures and providing guidance on safety-related processes.
  5. Ensuring compliance with all applicable Amazon supply chain policies and local/regional regulations.
  6. Leading safety discussions and participating in safety briefings.
  7. Supporting incident investigations and ensuring timely incident communication.
  8. Analyzing safety performance data to implement proactive improvement actions.
  9. Supporting safety training completion and verifying training effectiveness.
About the team

Qualifications and experience required:

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in data analysis and metrics reporting.
  • Strong communication skills in the local language.
  • Ability to travel frequently for site visits.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Background in operations safety or quality management.
  • Experience working both independently and within a team.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively across various stakeholders through presentations and written communications.
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or science.
