Wet Utilities Lead

The Wet Utilities Lead is responsible for the technical delivery of projects within their discipline (Wet Infrastructure). The role requires excellent communication skills and a strong focus on technical competencies.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Understand wet utilities design and independently perform engineering calculations for basic designs. Primarily responsible for QA and providing guidance/mentorship to junior engineers.
• Lead complex wet utilities designs, including modeling (e.g., Bentley WaterCAD), calculations, markups, and specifications. Provide guidance to senior engineers.
• Develop engineered solutions for linear infrastructures such as stormwater, pumping stations, gravity and rising mains, sewage and irrigation networks, potable water systems, and stormwater retention systems.
• Have a sound understanding of authorities' approval processes and the ability to secure approvals independently.
• Accurately estimate hours required for tasks.
• Allocate workload to junior engineers while maintaining a minimum self-utilization of 85%.
• Manage utilization targets and maximize financial performance through performance conversations and leave management.
• Ensure appropriate technical capabilities are in place and committed for projects.
• Collaborate with Technical Service Leaders and contribute to delivery and efficiency initiatives.
• Support recruitment aligned with strategic capabilities.
• Have a basic understanding of road design to support cross-disciplinary coordination.
• Understand dry utilities design for effective coordination.
• Be familiar with BIM modeling environments, Civil 3D, and related challenges.

This is a technical leadership role suited for engineers pursuing a technical career path, with potential promotion to Technical Director. For other leadership aspirations, please consider other roles.

To succeed, you will possess:

• Experience delivering infrastructure projects in the UAE with a fee exceeding 10m AED, including over 2m AED for wet utilities.
• Proven track record of independent project delivery.
• Experience achieving project performance and utilization targets.
• Excellent understanding of authorities' approval processes.
• Strong technical expertise and communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
• Coaching and mentoring skills, with a focus on succession planning.
