Job description

Via Medica International Healthcare LLC is seeking a qualified Advanced Care Paramedic to join our team for one of our projects in Abu Dhabi UAE.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in EMS/Paramedicine or Equivalent (minimum 3 years course duration)
  • Must have Valid BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS/ITLS
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience post-registration/certification as Advanced Care Paramedic
  • Must have a valid license from Abu Dhabi, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.

Essential Functions:

  1. Performs a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric patients, and the general patient population.
  2. Verifies that the assigned ambulance is mechanically sound and properly equipped at the start of a shift.
  3. Evaluates the nature and acuity of the illness or injury.
  4. Ensures that all medical and non-medical equipment is maintained, checked, and serviced including the onsite ambulance and emergency care equipment as per VMIH policies.
  5. Organizes patient care in a manner that contributes to the overall quality of the team.
  6. Communicates information pertinent to the transfer of the patient (i.e., admissions, ER transfer).
  7. Interacts professionally with staff members, physicians, and patients.
  8. Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations.
  9. Demonstrates the value of team concept on a consistent basis.
  10. Ensures that all patient files and data collection is maintained to the highest standard while ensuring confidentiality.
  11. Handles inventory control of emergency and disposables.
  12. Ensures full compliance on audits, stock control, incident and accident reporting, controlled medication reporting, and onsite continued training and development.
  13. Prepares and submits all weekly and monthly reports shared with onsite clinic manager.
  14. Ensures continuous quality management throughout the clinic.
  15. Completes a full and comprehensive handover to relief paramedic after every shift.

General Functions:

  1. Operates an assigned motor vehicle; maintains cleanliness of and fuels vehicle; checks tire inflation and fluid levels; requests or schedules service and/or repairs as needed.
  2. Substitutes for other supervisors and/or coworkers during their temporary absence; provides guidance, training, and/or assistance to other department personnel.
  3. May be required to be on twenty-four-hour call as deemed necessary. In the event of a declared state of emergency, employees in this classification may be called to work during days or hours other than those for which they are regularly scheduled.
  4. Personally responsible for protecting paper records, computer records, and other devices associated with confidential public health information or data.
  5. Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable UAE labour laws at all times.
  6. Participates in regular quality audits by ensuring compliance of evidence/documents at all times.
  7. Carries out ad-hoc tasks and/or project work as directed to support the Department/Division to deliver strategy.
  8. Required from time to time to undertake other duties of similar nature as reasonably required by the line manager.
