A leading company in the UAE is seeking a skilled Welder to join their team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality welding services, ensuring safety and adherence to standards. Position Overview:
The Welder 1 works under the supervision of the Fabrication Supervisor and is responsible for assembling, joining, and repairing metal structures and components using various welding techniques. This role ensures that all welds meet the strength, safety, and quality standards required for structural integrity, machinery function, and long-term durability on project sites.

Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to determine project specifications.
Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead, flat).
Perform arc, MIG, TIG, oxy-acetylene, and gas welding as required by the project.
Cut, grind, and shape metal parts using flame cutters, plasma cutters, grinders, and saws.
Fabricate and assemble metal structures such as columns, beams, railings, formwork braces, tanks, and frames.
Inspect welds for strength, quality, and conformance using visual and mechanical tests.
Maintain welding equipment and tools in proper working condition.
Identify and repair defects in welds, including cracks, porosity, and undercuts.
Safely handle gas cylinders, welding rods, and flammable materials.
Work in confined spaces, heights, or field environments as required by project location.
Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and site supervisors to sequence tasks and resolve issues.
Follow all safety standards, including use of PPE, fume extraction, fire protection, and electrical hazard precautions.
Maintain proper records of work performed, materials used, and hours spent.
Perform other site or workshop tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Certifications:
KCSE certificate preferred.
Certification from a recognized welding school or vocational institute (NITA, TVET, or equivalent) required.
Trade Test Grade II or higher in welding/fabrication preferred.
Safety training certifications (e.g., OSHA, fire safety, hot work permit) are a strong asset.
Experience:
2+ years of experience in structural, mechanical, or pipeline welding.
Proven ability to weld mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum is an advantage.
Experience working on construction or industrial sites preferred.
Skills:
Proficient in SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and oxy-acetylene welding.
Skilled in metal fabrication, cutting, grinding, and assembly.
Ability to read technical drawings and weld symbols with accuracy.
Keen eye for detail, quality, and alignment.
Strong problem-solving ability and teamwork.
Familiarity with rigging and positioning of heavy steel parts is an advantage.
Other Requirements:
Physically fit and able to lift up to 30kg, stand for long hours, and work in awkward positions.
Willing to work in noisy, dusty, hot, or outdoor conditions, including on scaffolds or confined spaces.
Flexible to work shifts, weekends, or overtime as needed.
Must adhere to safety, quality control, and site conduct protocols at all times.
