Job summary

DHL Global Forwarding is seeking a Warehouse Operative in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to support warehouse administration and material handling. You will assist in receiving, sorting, labelling, storing goods, and ensuring accurate records for shipments and inventory control.

Under supervision, you will perform repetitive warehouse tasks including packing, scanning, loading/unloading, and documentation. A vocational certification and up to 2 years' experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse operations is preferred for handling goods and shipments.
• Certification in forklift operation or similar equipment is advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of shipping documents and inventory control.
• Proven ability to perform manual handling and routine warehouse tasks.

Responsibilities

• Receive goods under supervision and sort/label/store to optimise space.
• Verify items against shipment records and inspect for damages or defects.
• Pack items for shipment and log movement of goods.
• Operate forklift or scanner for material handling and stock movement.
• Support admin tasks related to shipment processing and documentation.
• Respond to customer service inquiries about shipment status and timelines.

Support administration of warehouse and manual handling plans and processes to provide smooth operations for forklift operations, material handling and ground operations activities including movement, storage and inventory control; stacking, loading or unloading materials, finished goods, tools; packaging of materials and maintenance of existing inventories in line with the business strategy and requirements, corporate guidelines and policies.

In this Warehouse Operative position

• Under supervision receive goods, accurately sort, label and store goods ensuring optimization of warehouse space
• Under supervision verify items against the record of shipment, and inspect condition for damages/ defects, update received and shipped items according to established procedures
• Ensure proper routing of materials is maintained while transporting the materials between departments
• Verify and pack items for shipment according to specifications and the applicable transportation method
• Comply with established procedures to maintain and log the movement of incoming and outgoing materials and products
• Perform order fulfilment based on customer requirements
• Retrieve stored information, place orders or respond to enquiries such as inventory levels or delivery schedules
• Resolve recurring issues faced during delivery as per defined processes, systems and methods
• Undertake generally repetitive tasks related to movement, tools, and packaging (e.g. pickers and packers)
• Pack items for shipment according to specifications
• Under supervision receive goods, scan and verify items against the shipment record
• Undertake generally repetitive tasks to consolidate transshipment and sorting activities (e.g. within sorting centers)
• Under supervision support operate gas or electric powered forklift truck to move, stack, stage, load or unload materials, parts, finished goods, etc. and may use a hi-rise to load items in storage racks
• Verify and process applicable documentation during package/ freight pick-up or arrival at warehouse
• Under supervision operate a scanner to process all incoming and outgoing shipments
• Comply with established procedures to arrange daily pick-up schedules and dispatch pick-up delivery information in a timely and efficient manner
• Ensure forklifts and equipment are properly checked, used and maintained on a daily basis
• Support general admin tasks related to shipment processing and documentation, sending status information and accepting/ securing over-the-counter payments
• Answer basic queries from customer service and sales for shipment tracking and resolve issues related to misplaced shipments
• Stay updated with the methods of use of all equipment and obtain related certifications for loading, unloading and material handling equipment

• Explain facts, practices, policies, etc. to others within the organization adhering to narrowly defined procedures, standards and guidelines
• Support and interact primarily with colleagues of own team
• Communicate information that requires some explanation or interpretation
• Address task-related issues appropriately to maintain work relationships
