Job description

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai within the Netsu Bar, the Waiter will carry out all required operational tasks and duties in the outlet under the guidance of the respective managers and supervisors, with the overall objective to serve food and beverage in a timely manner and delight and satisfy each and every guest.

As a Waiter, you will be responsible for the following duties:
  1. Have a good understanding of the outlet's concept and food and beverage offerings and be able to verbally explain those to guests.
  2. Ensure that mise en place is completed shift to shift and during service to provide efficient service, including cleaning tasks and equipment handling.
  3. Operate the POS system to process food and beverage orders accurately.
  4. Deliver service by understanding guest requirements and preferences.
  5. Carry out all tasks in a friendly, courteous, and efficient manner.
  6. Properly up-sell services and products to guests, enhancing service and increasing revenue.
  7. Process MOHG Gift cards and other non-cash payments according to hotel standards.
  8. Handle billing tasks according to hotel policies and standards.
  9. Ensure all dishes are presented in compliance with hotel standards and food & beverage specifications.
  10. Conserve outlet equipment and utensils by proper handling and carrying out side duties as assigned.
  11. Assist in stock management, including linen, beverages, and dried goods, and organize them properly.
  12. Maintain up-to-date product knowledge.
  13. Inform management and kitchen colleagues of any guest allergies or preferences.
  14. Support other outlets as assigned by the Restaurant/Outlet Manager.
  15. Perform any other reasonable tasks assigned by the Restaurant/Outlet Manager.
  16. Communicate effectively with colleagues and superiors to avoid misunderstandings.
  17. Be a proactive team player, supporting colleagues in operational tasks.
  18. Observe guest body language and listen carefully to understand needs and expectations.
  19. Maintain a warm, friendly, and passionate approach with guests.
  20. Create memorable moments to surprise and delight guests through gestures and actions.
  21. Ensure guest satisfaction from arrival to departure, adhering to MOHG standards and service standards.
  22. Report guest preferences to superiors and act upon them when known.
As a Waiter, we expect from you:
  1. High School qualification or equivalent preferred.
  2. Degree or Higher National Diploma in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management preferred.
  3. Experience in a high-volume restaurant with high service standards preferred.
  4. Luxury hotel experience preferred.
  5. Minimum 2 years experience as a waiter/waitress.
  6. Ability to understand guest needs and deliver superior customer service.
  7. Ability to work long hours with operational focus.
  8. Familiarity with restaurant POS and cashiering procedures preferred.
  9. Knowledge of Fine Dining and casual dining service procedures preferred.
  10. Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and understand service flow preferred.
  11. Basic computer skills including MS Office preferred.
