Job Description

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Food and Beverage Department, as a Waiter/ess in our Lobby Lounge, you play a critical role in providing an exceptional dining experience for our guests. This includes taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience meets our standards. The Waiter/ess will report to the F&B Supervisor.

Responsibilities
  1. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Lounge menu, including light meals, beverages, and signature drinks. Offer suggestions and answer questions to enhance the guest experience.
  2. Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests, communicate clearly to the kitchen and bar staff, and ensure all orders are delivered promptly and according to guest specifications.
  3. Address special requests or dietary needs professionally and carefully, ensuring management and kitchen colleagues are informed of guest preferences or allergies.
  4. Provide attentive and personalized service to guests, ensuring their needs are met efficiently and gracefully. Properly upsell services and products to guests, enhancing service and generating increased revenue.
  5. Operate the POS system to process food and beverage orders, perform billing tasks according to hotel and cashiering policies, and set up and clear tables according to restaurant standards.
  6. Create WOW moments to surprise and delight guests, ensuring customer satisfaction from arrival to departure, following MOHG Legendary Quality Experiences (LQES).
Candidate Requirements
  1. A High School qualification or equivalent is preferred; a Degree or higher national diploma in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management is advantageous.
  2. Minimum 2 years experience working as a Waiter/ess, preferably in a high-volume restaurant or luxury hotel.
  3. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; additional languages such as Arabic are a plus.
  4. Knowledge of acceptable dining service procedures and standards, and familiarity with restaurant point of sales and cashiering procedures.
  5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and colleagues, and an understanding of the service flow.
  6. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
