About the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Food and Beverage Department, as a Waiter/ess in our Italian restaurant, you play a critical role in providing an exceptional dining experience for our guests. This includes taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience meets our standards. The Waiter/ess will report to the F&B Supervisor.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of the banquet menu and beverage options, offering suggestions, and answering questions to enhance the guest experience.
• Taking accurate food and beverage orders from guests, communicating clearly to the kitchen and bar staff, and ensuring all orders are delivered promptly and according to guest specifications.
• Addressing special requests or dietary needs professionally and carefully, informing management and kitchen colleagues of guest preferences or allergies.
• Providing attentive and personalized service to guests, ensuring their needs are met professionally and efficiently.
• Setting up banquet spaces according to event specifications, including arranging tables, chairs, and place settings, ensuring a clean and inviting dining environment.
• Creating WOW moments to surprise and delight guests, ensuring customer satisfaction from arrival to departure, following MOHG Legendary Quality Experiences (LQES).

Qualifications and skills we expect from you:

• A High School qualification or equivalent is preferred; a Degree or higher national diploma in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management is advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a Waiter/ess, preferably in a high-volume restaurant or luxury hotel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; additional languages such as Arabic are a plus.
• Knowledge of acceptable dining service procedures and standards, familiarity with restaurant point of sales, and cashiering procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to interact effectively with guests and colleagues, and understanding of the service flow.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
