As VP Medical Affairs International BBU, reporting to the EVP International and dotted line to SVP Biopharmaceuticals Medical, you will be part of the International Leadership Team and the BioPharma Global Medical Affairs Leadership Team. Your key responsibilities include ensuring optimal country execution of medical priorities and partnering with Commercial VPs and AVPs to shape and communicate AstraZeneca's international direction for the BioPharma portfolio.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop affiliates' capabilities and medical excellence to establish medical and scientific leadership
  • Lead and collaborate with Medical Affairs Directors to deliver brand and medical priorities
  • Provide international medical input into global plans, ensuring strategies meet international needs and are adaptable locally
  • Ensure readiness for the launch of emerging BioPharma products
  • Partner to accelerate adoption of clinical guidelines and health policies, and to deliver clinical trials in key countries
  • Disseminate best practices across regions, especially regarding launches and market development
  • Implement activities for evidence generation, including real-world evidence and registries

Accountable for BioPharma Medical budgets and personnel in key markets.

Essential Requirements

  • Deep clinical expertise in Cardiovascular, Renal, Metabolic, Respiratory, or Immunology specialties
  • Senior Medical Affairs experience, including product development, research, and lifecycle management
  • Experience as Country Medical Director or BioPharma Medical Director in at least one medium-to-large market, with product launch experience
  • Proven ability to develop and execute complex medical strategies and evidence plans
  • Understanding of international regulatory and healthcare environments, including payers
  • Established relationships with therapeutic area experts
  • Influence skills without authority, engaging senior stakeholders
  • Experience managing budgets and financial processes
  • Proven leadership in hiring, developing, and retaining talent
  • Willingness to travel frequently
  • Fluency in English
  • MD or equivalent qualification preferred
