Job summary

Bahri in the United Arab Emirates is seeking a senior operations professional in Commercial Shipping to manage voyage operations and optimize vessel performance. The role focuses on monitoring KPIs, coordinating with masters, agents, and port services to ensure safe and cost-efficient operations.

You will advise on cargo contracts, manage berthing information, and oversee logistics for voyages while maintaining strong customer relations and ensuring compliance with voyage orders and charter

Qualifications

• 8-10 years’ experience in Commercial Shipping in Marine Field.
• Technical Diploma or Diploma in Transportation/Logistics/Maritime Studies or equivalent.
• Full Time employment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor voyage progress and KPIs to ensure safe, cost-efficient ship operations.
• Liaise with masters and agents; handle demurrage claims and daily ops.
• Proactively improve vessel performance and best practices.
• Follow up freight collection and control voyage expenses.
• Advise on operations during cargo contracts and spot fixtures.
• Manage timely scheduling and berth information for departures/arrivals.
• Execute voyage operations logistics.
• Monitor voyage progress and KPIs for spot-in/spot-out.
• Coordinate with customers; liaise with port agents for smooth turnarounds.
• Procure agency services before port arrival.
• Coordinate cost-effective deliveries to vessels.
• Communicate with chartering, ship managers and port agents.
• Monitor vetting status of assigned vessels.
• Ensure compliance with voyage orders and charter party obligations.
• Update systems with port timings and cargo details.
• Monitor performance of agents and service providers.
• Liaise to resolve operational problems.
• Maintain good customer relations with service providers.

Job description

Ensure safe and cost-efficient ship operation for assigned vessels. Analyse operations and take initiative to improve vessel performance and ensure best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor voyage progress and KPIs of assigned vessels and ensure safe and cost-efficient ship operation.
• Liaise with masters and agents, demurrage claims and process day to day operational duties.
• Take initiative to improve vessel performance and ensure best practices.
• Follow up on freight collection and control voyage related expenses.
• Advise on operational matters when negotiating cargo contracts as well as spot fixtures.
• Manage timely scheduling and accurate berth information for departure and arrival.
• Execute logistics of voyage operations undertaken by vessels.
• Monitor voyage progress and KPI’s of vessels either for spot-in or spot-out.
• Coordinate with customer in relation to assigned ships. Appoint and liaise with port agents in relation to assigned ships to ensure smooth operational turnaround.
• Provide scheduling with the timeliest and accurate berth information.
• Ensure agency services are procured prior to vessels arrival in port.
• Procure and coordinate deliveries to the vessels in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
• Proactively communicate with chartering personnel, ship managers, vessel management and Port Agents.
• Proactively monitor assigned vessels vetting status.
• Ensure vessel compliance with voyage orders and charter party obligations.
• Update system with accurate operational information (port timings cargo nominations, cargo loaded).
• Monitor performance of agents and other service providers.
• Liaise agents and service providers to resolve any operational problems.
• Develop and maintain good customer relations and service providers.

Experience Required: 8-10 years’ experience in Commercial Shipping in Marine Field.

Education Qualifications: Technical Diploma or Diploma in Transportation/Logistics/Maritime Studies or commercially related shipping subjects or equivalent.
