As the Vice President of Contract Logistics, you’ll be the driving force behind our client’s contract logistics operations, blending strategic vision with hands-on leadership to deliver exceptional results. Your role will include:
Shaping the Future
- Craft and lead a bold vision for the contract logistics division, aligning with our client’s global ambitions and the unique demands of the UAE market.
- Spearhead transformative initiatives to unify legacy operations into a seamless, high-performing logistics network that sets new industry standards.
- Take ownership of profit and loss (P&L), managing budgets of up to $60M, tracking performance, and delivering measurable financial success.
Leadership:
- Inspire and empower diverse teams of up to 1,600 staff across operations, HR, quality, health, safety, security, compliance, and finance, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Build team structures, set clear goals, and celebrate achievements, driving engagement and professional growth in both unionized and non-unionized settings.
- Champion employee development through training programs, boosting participation and morale, as demonstrated by past leaders who raised engagement scores by over 20%.
Operations:
- Oversee large-scale warehouse and distribution operations (up to 500,000 sqm across multiple sites), leveraging automation and cutting-edge Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) like Manhattan or SPEED.
- Lead the onboarding of new clients and sites, delivering bespoke solutions for industries such as luxury, FMCG, and aerospace.
- Implement robust processes, from stock loss controls to QHSE systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AEO), ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency.
Commercial:
- Be the face of the business, delivering compelling sales and technical presentations to win and retain high-value clients.
- Develop innovative, client-focused logistics solutions and quotations, ensuring services exceed expectations and drive profitability.
- Nurture strong, trust-based relationships with key accounts, ensuring seamless execution of contracts and long-term partnerships.
Driving Continuous Improvement:
- Use methodologies like DMAIC or Lean to identify and implement process improvements, delivering cost savings and operational efficiencies (e.g., CI pipelines worth $500k+).
- Enhance key metrics like On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery, with past leaders achieving jumps from 65% to 99% in just weeks.
People Profile:
We’re looking for a leader who combines strategic thinking with a genuine passion for people, processes, and results. You bring:
- Experience: Over 10 years in senior logistics roles, with at least 5 years in contract logistics for a 3PL provider, managing large-scale operations (100,000+ sqm) and leading teams of 500+ staff.
- Proven Success:
- A track record of transforming operations, such as improving OTIF, reducing costs (e.g., $1M+ savings), or implementing automation and WMS systems.
- Experience transitioning accounts (e.g., cost-plus to closed book) and managing high-volume operations (e.g., 2M+ cases/week).
- Success in boosting employee engagement, achieving audit compliance (e.g., H&S, HMRC), and delivering innovative solutions.
- Skills:
- Strong financial acumen, with experience managing multimillion-pound budgets.
- Expertise in process optimization (DMAIC, Lean) and proficiency in tools like SAP, COGNOS, MS Office, and WMS platforms.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to win clients and inspire teams.
- Education: A Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA is a bonus.
- Languages: Fluent in English
- Certifications: Credentials in QHSE, Internal Auditing, or similar are highly valued.
