Lead and undertake Shariah audit and monitor to ensure Islamic banking compliance with the Islamic Shariah.

Conduct annual plans to collect and assess evidence of Islamic banking activities and transactions, ensuring their compliance and the adequacy of actions taken to comply with Islamic Shariah, internal procedures, and Shariah governance frameworks.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Plan Shariah audit exercises, execute field work, produce reports, present findings, and monitor management action plan implementation.

Coordinate and exchange findings with the Internal audit department.

The Internal Shariah Auditor shall be responsible for :

• Development and review of the Internal Shariah audit manual.
• Prepare and get approval for the annual Shariah audit plan from ISSC in coordination with the audit committee, following best practices like Risk-based Shariah Audit.
• Assess business activities and evaluate the effectiveness of internal Shariah supervision for compliance.
• Ensure products, services, contracts, agreements, and transactions are approved by ISSC.
• Conduct regular field audits at CBI Al Islami branches and departments to ensure Shariah compliance.
• Prepare audit forms and programs aligned with ISSC’s fatwas and HSA resolutions.
• Hold meetings with departments on Shariah observations and implement corrective measures.
• Compile and present internal Shariah audit reports.
• Support ongoing risk assessments to identify changes in risk profiles.
• Uphold high standards of ethics and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and the Group Code of Conduct.
• Plan and organize reviews, keeping management informed of progress and findings.
• Exercise judgment on issue materiality and audit ratings.
• Present audit findings and recommendations to ISSC, CEO, and senior management.
• Review proposed management actions and finalize them with ISSC.
• Follow up on outstanding issues to ensure effective risk management.
• Assess compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, implementing protective actions as needed.

Competency Profile :

• Degree in Islamic Shariah or relevant field.
• Professional certification in Shariah and Islamic Banking Audit from recognized organizations like AAOIFI or CIBAFI.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Shariah audit.
• Strong command of English and reasonable Arabic language skills.
