Job summary

eLEND is seeking a seasoned Mortgage Underwriting leader to drive the Communication Underwriting function in a dynamic lending environment. You will mentor regional managers, set performance standards, and ensure precise disclosure of underwriting decisions across internal teams, clients, and partners.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive Mortgage Underwriting leadership experience.
• Extensive experience developing underwriting operations and communication strategies.
• Strong knowledge of FHA, VA, USDA, Conventional, Jumbo, Agency, and Investor underwriting guidelines.
• Exceptional strategic thinking, credit analysis, and executive decision-making skills.
• Proven ability to lead through change.

• Oversee all underwriting communication with internal teams, clients, brokers, and business partners.
• Establish and maintain exceptional client service standards.
• Ensure underwriting decisions are communicated accurately and professionally.
• Establish, communicate, and enforce company underwriting guidelines and agency requirements.
• Serve as the executive authority for complex loan scenarios and exception requests.
• Partner with Sales, Operations, Capital Markets, Compliance, and Executive Leadership.
• Ensure compliance with FHA, VA, USDA, Conventional, CFPB, TRID, RESPA, ECOA, and Fair Lending regulations.
• Develop and monitor department KPIs, dashboards, and performance metrics.
• Drive technology adoption and workflow automation.
• Mentor Underwriting Managers and develop leadership succession plans.

Requirements

• Extensive experience developing underwriting operations and communication strategies
• Strong knowledge of FHA, VA, USDA, Conventional, Jumbo, Agency, and Investor underwriting guidelines
• Exceptional strategic thinking, credit analysis, and executive decision-making skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct Endorsement (DE) Certification
• VA SAR/LAPP Authority
• Experience leading large remote underwriting organizations
• Expertise using Encompass Loan Origination System
• Strong understanding of AUS platforms including DU and LPA
• Experience presenting executive reporting to C-suite leadership
