Job description

The candidate will be responsible for providing strategic support to the Chief Treasury & Investments Officer to implement the vision and strategy of the department, ensuring their alignment with the overall goals and objectives of the bank. The incumbent will ensure that the Treasury department operates efficiently, meets regulatory requirements, and contributes to the bank's financial health, while providing insights to support decision-making processes within the Treasury department.

Strategic & Operational Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of the Treasury function's strategic plans, ensuring alignment with the bank's overall objectives.
  • Collaborate with the CTIO and other functional heads to define long-term goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses for the Treasury department, providing actionable insights to the CTIO to support decision-making.
  • Help develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the Treasury department's performance, identifying trends and potential risks, and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure that all activities within the Treasury department comply with relevant regulations, internal policies, guidelines and best practice, staying updated on changes in regulatory requirements and assessing their impact on the department's operations.
  • Work closely with the Risk Management team to identify and mitigate risks associated with the Treasury department’s activities, including liquidity, interest rate, and currency risks.
  • Lead and manage cross-functional projects within the Treasury department, ensuring timely and successful completion, coordinating with other departments to ensure that project goals are met.
  • Serve as a key point of contact between the Treasury department and other departments within the bank, preparing and presenting reports to senior management, and external stakeholders as required.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the Treasury department, implementing best practices and driving initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Recommend appropriate policies and procedures to and for approval by relevant committees
  • Ensure that there is adequate support (people, process, tools, frameworks, systems) in the team for the required controls
  • Assume active independent and objective engagement in problem-solving and crisis management over critical issues that have an impact on business/operations
  • Spearhead implementing an environment where forward planning, prioritization, deadline management and streamlined workflows and collaborative, inclusive yet effective and efficient work practices, are the norm
  • Track issues arising from business metrics, Audit reviews, etc., providing validation of issue closure where necessary .
