Job description

The Veterinary Doctor will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and preventing illnesses and injuries in animals, while ensuring adherence to UAE regulations on animal welfare and veterinary practice. This role may be based in a clinic, animal hospital, zoo, or agricultural setting and involves both clinical and surgical work, client consultation, and ongoing care for a variety of animal species. The veterinarian ensures high standards of medical care, hygiene, and client education in line with UAE municipal and ministry health standards.

Responsibilities:

  1. Examining animals to diagnose health problems, prescribing appropriate treatments, and administering vaccinations in compliance with UAE veterinary guidelines.
  2. Performing surgical procedures, including spaying, neutering, wound care, and emergency interventions.
  3. Providing guidance to pet owners or livestock handlers on animal nutrition, behavior, preventive care, and post-treatment follow-up.
  4. Maintaining accurate medical records for all patients and ensuring traceability as required by UAE regulations.
  5. Ensuring the clinic or practice complies with UAE animal welfare laws, sterilization standards, and controlled substance handling protocols.
  6. Participating in the control and prevention of infectious diseases, including zoonotic diseases, in line with Ministry of Climate Change and Environment directives.
  7. Supervising junior staff, vet nurses, or technicians and maintaining a clean, safe, and supportive clinical environment.
  8. Attending training and staying up to date on veterinary advancements, pharmaceuticals, and regulatory updates in the UAE.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor s degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent); UAE license to practice is mandatory.
  2. Minimum of 3 - 5 years of clinical experience, preferably within the UAE or GCC region.
  3. Proven surgical and diagnostic skills across small animals, exotic pets, or livestock, depending on practice setting.
  4. Knowledge of UAE animal health regulations, import/export protocols, and veterinary recordkeeping standards.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with pet owners or farm clients.
  6. Compassionate approach with a commitment to animal welfare and ethical veterinary care.
  7. Proficiency in veterinary management software and digital health record systems.
  8. Fluency in English is required; Arabic is an advantage, especially for public sector or livestock roles.
