European Association Of Zoos And Aquaria

Department: Veterinary Services – Clinical Support
Unit: Life Sciences
Reporting to: Head of Veterinary Hospital
Location: Dubai Safari Park
Role Overview

The role is responsible for providing high-quality care to animals under the supervision of the Head of Veterinary Hospital. This includes immobilizations, preventive medicine programs, diagnostic tests, procedures, and compassionate care to animals and their owners, along with other veterinary tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Main Duties
  1. Collaborate effectively with safari staff such as zookeepers, curators, and other colleagues within Dubai Safari Park. Attend weekly and monthly meetings of the Life and Science Division to stay informed.
  2. Diagnose and administer emergency treatment to injured or ill animals.
  3. Conduct postmortem studies and analyses.
  4. Perform daily health checks during rounds, observing the health and welfare of animals in the safari.
  5. Perform physical examinations, collect blood or other samples for diagnostics, and utilize ultrasound, radiography, endoscopy, and laparoscopy to determine the best treatment options.
  6. Prescribe medications, perform surgeries, prepare health certificates, and review animal diets and schedules.
  7. Support conservation efforts through in-situ and ex-situ captive breeding programs at Dubai Safari Park.
  8. Supervise and perform sedation, anesthesia, and all surgical activities within the park.
Role Specification

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine.

Experience: Minimum 5 years in a zoological setting with exotic animals.
