Responsibilities

The Head of Legal Middle East is looking for a Legal Advisor for the Dubai team. The department covers a wide region of 10 overlapping civil, common law and Sharia principles jurisdictions for both MARK and GLBA Business Units.

Responsibilities :

As a member of the Legal team, and under the supervision of the Head of Legal, the successful candidate main role will be to assist in the support of the GLBA platform by :

  • Providing advisory and documentation related to GLBA initiatives in the region, booked locally or in collaboration with JUR of other locations
  • Negotiating / reviewing transaction documentation ( loan documentation, legal opinions), and ancillary agreements ( NDAs, mandates, waivers)
  • Interacting with external counsel on topical legal questions
  • Contributing to the updates of the GLBA and cross-border guidelines

In addition to the above, the candidate is expected to :

  • Covering the needs of SUs in reviewing service agreements
  • Contributing to the regional legal and regulatory watch
  • Collaborating with other legal departments on cross border and local law topics
  • Contributing to JUR’s governance and reportings

Please note that for the missions outside the European countries, a VISA is necessary. Please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure. Otherwise, we strongly advise you to launch asap the renewal of your passport.

Profile required

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience :

  • Graduate with a Master degree from Business School or University with a specialization in Corporate Finance Law
  • A previous experience in an International Bank would be appreciated

Technical, operational & Soft skills :

  • Ability to conceptualize and understand complex legal structures, to learn quickly and thoroughly new and unfamiliar areas of law and business as needed
  • An interest in acquiring / developing a working knowledge of the various legal concepts framing a transaction, in either a civil law or common law context ( contract law, arbitration, corporate law, banking law) and an ability and willingness to learn and integrate new legal concepts inherent to the region
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient / Good command of MS Office

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in Dubai is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months. The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space.
