Job summary

Commonpoint is seeking a Green Team Member for Gardening & Hydroponics to help develop urban gardens and hydroponic systems within the Youth Opportunity Hub. You will work with a diverse team to grow produce, mentor volunteers, and support sustainability programs.

This seasonal role offers hands-on experience in indoor and outdoor garden spaces, engages youth in STEM and environmental initiatives, and supports community events throughout the program.

Qualifications

• Interest in gardening, environmental science, agriculture, or nutrition.
• Willingness to work outdoors and indoors with plants and garden tools.
• Dependable, responsible, and able to work well in a team; strong communication and collaboration skills.
• No prior experience necessary – training provided.
• Excellent relationship building, time management, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planting, watering, pruning, and harvesting crops in soil gardens and hydroponic systems.
• Monitor and maintain hydroponic equipment (pH, nutrients, lighting).
• Keep garden spaces clean, safe, and organized.
• Document growth progress and participate in data tracking.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and leadership development activities.
• Support events such as harvest festivals or volunteer days.
• Act as a youth ambassador for green initiatives at Commonpoint and in the community.
