We are currently recruiting for an Underwriter - Cargo for our client to be based out of their Dubai office.

The Underwriter – Cargo is responsible for evaluating and underwriting cargo insurance risks, ensuring profitable growth of the cargo portfolio while maintaining underwriting discipline. The role involves assessing risk exposures, pricing policies, negotiating terms, and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and underwrite cargo insurance risks in accordance with company guidelines and standards.
  • Analyze cargo types, transit routes, packaging, and transportation methods to determine risk levels.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, agents, and clients to support business development.
  • Prepare quotations, binders, and policy documentation accurately and timely.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of the cargo portfolio, ensuring profitability and compliance.
  • Collaborate with claims, actuarial, and risk management teams to improve underwriting practices.
  • Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks in marine cargo insurance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Maritime Studies, or related field.
  • Background in Insurance company is mandatory.
  • 2–5 years of experience in marine or cargo underwriting.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in underwriting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
