Job description

Underwriting (UW) is an integral part of the Institutional Credit Management (ICM) organization. UW's mandate is to deliver best-in-class credit risk analysis, monitoring, and credit administration as a partner to Corporate Banking and Risk, ensuring the safety and soundness of wholesale lending across Citi.

Underwriting Analysts and Associates are responsible for a portfolio of Corporate Relationships, owning the Credit Risk Analysis for those relationships, and continuously monitoring that portfolio. This includes producing Initial Credit Approvals, Transaction Approvals, Annual Reviews, Quarterly Reviews, and supporting Ad-Hoc Portfolio & Industry Reviews and Stress Testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess the credit and financial strength of Citi's Most Complex Large Corporate, Public Sector, and Financial Institutions Clients by performing fundamental credit analysis of counterparties using both quantitative and qualitative factors.
  • Complete Credit Analysis write-ups while assigning internal credit risk ratings based on independent assessment and judgment, based on due diligence of the client and industry knowledge.
  • Continuously monitor the covered portfolio, including industry trends, impacts on key relationships, and escalate potential credit issues to Underwriters, Risk, and Banking partners.
  • Partner with regional and industry stakeholders in Banking and Independent Risk to implement credit assessment and monitoring standards for applicable portfolios.

Qualifications:

  • 3-6 years of credit experience in Banking, Credit Risk Management, or equivalent credit experience.
  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal); knowledge of French or Arabic is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, including understanding key financial components such as liquidity and leverage, with the ability to identify root causes, trends, and potential horizon issues.
  • Experience in Corporate and Financial Institutions risk analysis is advantageous.
  • Advanced industry research capabilities, including risk analysis and key drivers.
  • Ability to identify and escalate potential risk issues promptly.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
