We are seeking highly skilled Transmission Planning Engineers to support the Power Network Strategy & Planning Division (PNSPD) in conducting power system studies, preparing business cases, and collaborating with various stakeholders. The selected candidates will work from Clients Abu Dhabi office for a period of 12 months (with possible extension).
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement static, dynamic, and transient models for electrical power systems.
- Perform transmission long-term planning, including substation expansion plans and transmission system master plans.
- Evaluate transmission system expansion alternatives both technically and economically.
- Assess the impact of new loads and generation plants (renewable and conventional) connections on the transmission system.
- Conduct electrical power system steady state, short circuit, dynamic, and transient stability analyses.
- Prepare technical reports to support network analysis outcomes.
- Develop business cases and technical presentations based on study results.
- Develop or modify automation scripts to enhance simulation efficiency, speed, and accuracy, with specific knowledge of Python scripting.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Electrical Power and Power Systems, or equivalent; or a master's degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university.
Minimum Experience:
- At least 10 years of relevant experience, including successfully holding a similar role as a Power Network Planning Engineer on projects of comparable scope.
Field of Experience:
- Deep understanding of electric power systems fundamentals, grid operation, and renewable energy integration.
- Knowledge of transmission network planning and analysis.
- Experience with power system analysis including steady state, short circuit, dynamic, and transient stability analyses.
- High proficiency in PSS/E software and Python coding.
- Experience with Plexos software alongside PSS/E.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage and deliver projects within quality standards and schedule constraints.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
