Translator (Portuguese)

We are seeking a fluent and detail-oriented Portuguese Translator to join our team in the UAE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating written and verbal content between Portuguese and English (and/or Arabic), ensuring clarity, accuracy, and cultural relevance across various business communications and documents.

Key Responsibilities

1. Translate written documents, reports, and marketing materials from Portuguese to English (and vice versa).
2. Provide real-time verbal interpretation during meetings, calls, or events as needed.
3. Ensure translated content accurately reflects the original meaning, tone, and context.
4. Proofread and edit translations for grammar, punctuation, and consistency.
5. Collaborate with teams across departments to support communication needs.
6. Maintain terminology databases, glossaries, and translation memory tools.
7. Handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion.
8. Stay updated on cultural and linguistic changes that may affect communication.
9. Assist with localization of content for marketing, legal, or technical documentation.
10. Meet tight deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.

Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, Communications, or a related field.
2. Native or fluent in Portuguese, with excellent command of English (Arabic is a plus).
3. Minimum 2-4 years of professional translation or interpretation experience.
4. Strong understanding of cultural nuances, grammar, and syntax in both languages.
5. Experience with CAT tools or translation software is preferred.
6. Excellent attention to detail and linguistic accuracy.
7. Strong organizational and time management skills.
8. Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
9. UAE residency or ability to relocate is preferred.
