Job description

  • Conduct research to design and develop new textile materials and products, optimizing existing ones based on market needs and technological advancements.
  • Study textile materials, such as fibers, yarn, and fabrics, to design high-quality products and determine innovative production techniques.

Project Coordination:

  • Coordinate R&D efforts with Marketing, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance teams to ensure product and fabric feasibility and manage timelines for product development.
  • Maintain project updates using approved project management tools.

Analysis & Testing:

  • Select and implement analysis and testing techniques for material characterization and coordinate physical testing of raw materials and finished products to establish comprehensive product specifications.
  • Maintain and update current product specifications.

Training & Development:

  • Train team members on new products, covering aspects such as raw materials, manufacturing procedures, product specifications, properties, and application-related characteristics.

Competitive Analysis:

  • Evaluate competitors’ products and materials, including patent information, to establish benchmarks for new product development.

Problem Solving & Process Improvement:

  • Investigate and resolve work-in-process problems and operational variances, providing troubleshooting support for resolution.
  • Support new business development through leading application development projects and customer interactions.

Product & Material Certification:

  • Ensure products and materials meet required certifications and approvals by appropriate agencies.

Material Impact & Performance Analysis:

  • Understand the impact of raw materials, processes, and other external factors on the durability and performance of final products.
  • Link the chemical, physical, and mechanical properties of fabrics, textiles, and flexible composites to product performance, especially in apparel.

Forensic Analysis:

  • Use forensic analysis tools to understand the impact of textiles on product failure and assess durability risks.
  • Plan manufacturing order releases and follow up with suppliers, manufacturers, and mills to ensure timely and quality production.

Other Duties:

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
