Job summary

ALEC Fitout is seeking a hands-on Commissioning Engineer in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE to lead testing and commissioning of MEP systems for fit-out projects. The role focuses on planning, executing, and documenting commissioning activities across HVAC, electrical, fire alarm and plumbing systems on site.

You will work under the MEP Manager, coordinating with project engineers, QA/QC, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure timely handover and compliance with UAE regulations and project standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of MEP testing and commissioning experience.
• Knowledge of UAE regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute Testing & Commissioning activities per procedures and project specs.
• Lead HVAC, electrical small power/lighting, fire alarm and water systems testing and commissioning.
• Review drawings, specs, ITPs and method statements; maintain reports and handover records.
• Coordinate inspections with consultants, subcontractors and site teams.
• Ensure commissioning activities meet timelines, quality and safety requirements.

About Your Team

Reporting to the MEP Manager, you'll work closely with project engineers, site teams, QA/QC personnel, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure the successful testing, commissioning, and handover of MEP systems.

Your Role

As a Testing & Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Planning, coordinating, and executing Testing & Commissioning (T&C) activities in accordance with approved procedures, project specifications, and schedules.
• Performing and overseeing hands‑on Testing & Commissioning activities across the following systems:
• HVAC Systems – Testing, balancing, functional checks, and commissioning of HVAC equipment and associated systems.
• Electrical Small Power and Lighting – Testing, inspection, and functional verification of small power and lighting installations.
• Fire Alarm and Central Battery Systems – Testing and commissioning to ensure system functionality and compliance with project requirements.
• Water Supply and Drainage Systems – Pressure testing, flushing, functional testing, and commissioning of plumbing and drainage installations.
• Reviewing approved drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Identifying and resolving commissioning-related issues in coordination with site teams, subcontractors, and consultants.
• Coordinating T&C inspections, witnessing activities, and approvals with consultants and relevant stakeholders.
• Preparing and maintaining commissioning documentation, test reports, checklists, and handover records.
• Ensuring commissioning activities are completed in line with project timelines, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Supporting the successful completion and handover of commissioned systems.

What We’re Looking For

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in MEP Testing & Commissioning, preferably within building construction or fitout projects.
• Strong hands‑on experience in Testing & Commissioning, particularly across the following disciplines:
• HVAC Testing & Commissioning
• Electrical Small Power and Lighting Testing & Commissioning
• Fire Alarm and Central Battery System Testing & Commissioning
• Water Supply and Drainage Testing & Commissioning
• Proven experience in conducting functional testing, troubleshooting, inspections, and commissioning activities on‑site.
• Experience coordinating with consultants, subcontractors, and project teams during testing, commissioning, and handover.

Knowledge

• Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, commissioning procedures, and applicable UAE regulations and standards.
• Ability to interpret MEP drawings, technical specifications, and commissioning documentation.
• Knowledge of inspection, testing, and handover requirements.

Skills

• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Good coordination and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple commissioning activities and meet project deadlines.
• Proficiency in MS Office and preparation of technical reports and commissioning records.
• Hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and proactive approach to site activities.
