The Temporary Chemistry Teacher will join a well‑established British curriculum school in Dubai and support continuity of learning across secondary and senior secondary chemistry classes. The role requires the ability to adapt quickly, deliver structured lessons, maintain student engagement, assess progress, and integrate smoothly into a dynamic academic environment. The successful candidate will help students strengthen their understanding of chemical concepts, practical science, analytical thinking, and examination readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach chemistry to secondary and senior secondary students in line with British curriculum expectations.
- Deliver engaging and well‑structured chemistry lessons for IGCSE, AS, and A Level students where required.
- Prepare lesson plans, classroom activities, practical tasks, worksheets, assessments, and learning resources.
- Support students in understanding key chemistry topics including atomic structure, bonding, chemical reactions, acids and bases, organic chemistry, energetics, rates of reaction, equilibrium, and analytical chemistry.
- Encourage scientific inquiry, problem‑solving, laboratory awareness, independent thinking, and exam‑focused learning.
- Assess student progress through classwork, homework, quizzes, practical work, tests, and examination preparation activities.
- Provide constructive feedback to help students improve subject knowledge, accuracy, and confidence.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, lesson delivery, student performance, and assessment outcomes.
- Apply effective classroom management strategies to maintain a focused, safe, and respectful learning environment.
- Adapt quickly to existing schemes of work, school routines, departmental expectations, and student learning needs.
- Support differentiated instruction to help students with varied ability levels achieve progress.
- Collaborate with science department colleagues, coordinators, and school leadership to ensure continuity of curriculum delivery.
- Follow school policies, safeguarding expectations, health and safety rules, and laboratory safety procedures.
- Contribute to a positive academic environment and support school activities when assigned.
Ideal Profile
- Master’s degree in chemistry is required.
- Teaching qualification such as PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent is required.
- Experience teaching chemistry in a British curriculum school is preferred.
- IGCSE, AS, or A Level chemistry teaching experience is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of chemistry subject content, practical science, and examination preparation.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
