Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Chemistry to secondary students following British curriculum requirements, including IGCSE, AS, and A Level standards where applicable.
  • Plan clear, engaging, and differentiated lessons that support student understanding of chemical concepts, scientific processes, and examination objectives.
  • Prepare learning materials, lesson resources, practical activities, homework tasks, and assessments aligned with curriculum expectations.
  • Support students in developing strong knowledge of topics such as atomic structure, bonding, energetics, organic chemistry, rates of reaction, equilibrium, acids and bases, and analytical chemistry.
  • Use effective classroom strategies to maintain discipline, engagement, participation, and high academic expectations.
  • Assess student work regularly and provide meaningful feedback to improve progress, confidence, and exam performance.
  • Track student achievement data and identify learners who require extension, intervention, or additional academic support.
  • Support practical science learning by promoting safe laboratory behaviour, accurate observation, and correct use of scientific equipment.
  • Prepare students for internal assessments, mock examinations, practical tasks, and external board examinations.
  • Work collaboratively with science department colleagues to strengthen planning, moderation, assessment consistency, and curriculum delivery.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, school leaders, and academic teams regarding student progress and learning needs.
  • Adapt quickly to school routines, department expectations, and the wider academic culture of a busy British curriculum school.
  • Maintain accurate records of lesson planning, marks, attendance-related academic notes, progress updates, and assessment outcomes.
