Job description

Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Lead Land Mobile Radio Technician. This position will be located in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates and will be a fully onsite position.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of electronic and technical assignments on data communications equipment and systems. Completes terminal troubleshooting using appropriate diagnostic equipment. Installs terminals, controllers, and test equipment and restores nonworking lines and/or equipment to working condition. Maintains liaison with outside vendors and orders circuits and/or equipment as required. Requires knowledge of specific modems, test equipment, and terminal configuration. May develop recommendations for the combined usage of data processing and telephone system hardware and software.

  • Conducts site surveys and meets contacts like clients, construction crew members, utility company personnel, and people from other departments within the Company.
  • Installs, moves, and modifies telecommunications and related equipment according to job order specifications, standards, and procedures.
  • Undertakes telecommunications systems upgrade and answers queries related to system controls and maintenance of the system in general.
  • Diagnoses equipment malfunctions. Maintains and repairs telecommunications systems and equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and specifications.
  • Reports and monitors service order changes.
Qualifications
  • High School with 3 - 6 years (or commensurate experience)
  • Clearance Required: Secret
  • 2 years’ lead-level practical experience in: shop practices; installations, repair and troubleshooting or maintenance of communications systems or equipment; able to solve complex problems, understand the interrelationships of circuits, and be able to exercise independent judgment in performing tasks in support of communications systems or equipment
  • Expert in: maintaining/troubleshooting Motorola and other LMR equipment (communications consoles; repeaters; SRX-2200, XTS-5000 and other various handheld radios; trunked and non-trunked LMR systems; key loaders, antennas, multi-couplers, duplexers; test equipment, such as service monitors/communication system analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, frequency counters, power meters, spectrum analyzer; digital recording equipment; over-the-air keying equipment (key management facility); and site controllers
  • Qualified to install LMR base stations, repeaters, and mobile radios
  • Must have LMR shop operations and management experience in a large-scale LMR shop and be familiar with equipment tracking databases
