Job description

We are seeking a Technician Power Distribution to perform preventative, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on medium and low voltage engine-driven emergency power generation systems installed in the Facilities. The role involves working independently or as part of a technical team, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. The candidate should be able to follow all technical and safety instructions from staff, in accordance with policy and procedures.

This position is based at Dubai Airport.

Key Accountabilities

1. Knowledge of the operation of engine-driven emergency power generation systems.
2. Knowledge of regulations and standards for installation, operation, and maintenance of emergency and standby electrical power systems in utility infrastructure.
3. Understanding of safety precautions during maintenance of emergency power systems.
4. Knowledge of testing and certification of engine emission control systems on emergency power units.
5. Ability to complete PMS fault reports, utilization reports, and CMMS work orders; troubleshooting and fault finding on automotive equipment and special vehicles.
6. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, including circuit, wiring diagrams, schematic, and layout drawings.
7. Perform safely and correctly on MV & LV equipment, including Ring Main Units, Transformers, Distribution Panels, Control Panels, UPS, Lighting Control Panels, and associated cabling.
8. Set up and use electrical testing equipment such as digital multimeters, low resistance ohmmeters, insulation resistance testers, and earth fault loop resistance testers, and interpret results.
9. Promote a Zero Harm culture within the team and with all suppliers and contractors.
10. Ensure compliance with Serco Management System, business processes, and work instructions, maintaining quality and governance standards.
11. Report accidents, incidents, breaches, or potential breaches to management or through the speak-up process.

Desired Candidate Profile

• IOSH Working Safely Certificate or equivalent.
• Valid UAE driving license is desirable.
• Minimum of six (6) years experience in a commercial power generator environment or similar.
• Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to perform electrical isolations and LOTO, planned preventative maintenance, corrective and breakdown maintenance on MV & LV systems.
