Job summary

A leading energy producer is seeking a qualified technician to perform inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) in Abu Dhabi. Candidates should have a Technical Diploma and knowledge of NDT methods including ultrasonic testing. This role includes ensuring safety compliance and conducting various inspections on field and terminal facilities.

Qualifications

  • Technical Diploma or secondary school certificate with vocational trade certification in relevant field.
  • Knowledge of NDT methods, including ultrasonic testing (UT) and dye penetrant testing (PT).

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine non-destructive testing (NDT) on piping and equipment following established procedures.
  • Conduct daily thickness measurements and surveys on piping and equipment using ultrasonic flaw detectors.
  • Carry out radiography and ultrasonic flaw detection for welds, and hardness tests when required.

JOB PURPOSE :

Perform inspection and condition monitoring programs in line with company procedures.

Conduct visual inspections and Non-destructive examinations on Field / Terminal facilities as per the condition monitoring plan.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Job Specific Responsibilities

  • Perform routine non-destructive testing (NDT) on piping and equipment following established procedures. Schedule emergency testing as needed. Prepare and submit NDT reports with findings for interpretation by the Engineer.
  • Conduct daily thickness measurements and surveys on piping and equipment using ultrasonic flaw detectors. Perform other NDT activities on piping.
  • Carry out radiography and ultrasonic flaw detection for welds, and hardness tests when required.
  • Replace radiation sources when necessary and coordinate the dispatch of used sources to suppliers for recharging, ensuring safety to avoid radiation exposure.
  • Develop films for interpretation by Inspection Engineers. Maintain inspection tools and instruments in good condition and keep relevant records.
  • Perform thermographic inspections on furnace tubes and other equipment. Operate magnetic flux leakage equipment for tube inspection as needed.
  • Assist warehouse/workshop in alloy identification through metallurgical analysis.
  • Ensure availability of materials for planned activities.
  • Coordinate and track intelligent pigging surveys on main oil lines, transfer lines, and trunk lines. Maintain records to help locate anomalies.
  • Mark defect locations on pipelines according to IPS reports and carry out inspections and verification of anomalies.
  • General Responsibilities

    • Implement and adhere to all relevant policies, processes, systems, and standards.
  • Provide on-the-job training to support UAE Nationalization and competency development programs.
  • Maintain tools, safety gear, and equipment in safe and operational condition. Arrange repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Perform maintenance tasks within assigned time standards. Inform supervisors if additional resources are required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in operational procedures and equipment.
  • Follow safety rules and report HSE non-conformances, incidents, and near-misses. Exercise STOP Work Authority if unsafe conditions are identified.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collect technical data and assist in preparing progress reports and method statements. Initiate Near Miss reports.
