About the Job:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Supervisor to join the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab team. The main duties and responsibilities of this role:
- Perform any activities related to the Aquarium Operations, the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project (DTRP) and Jumeirah Coral Restoration.
- Assist with day-to-day Aquarium operations tasks such as food preparation and animal feeding, diving and dive equipment maintenance, fish quarantine, medications and postmortem and with DTRP Operations: help with turtle rescue and collection, treatments and veterinary visits.
- Aquarium back of house tours, daily educational talks in Jumeirah Al Naseem Turtle Sanctuary.
- Coordinate guest activities with the Eco-Village linked to our marine conservation projects and conduct school trips at the Turtle Lagoon and assist with coordination of philanthropic educational activities at schools.
- Assist with Corporate Social Responsibility events related to DTRP including talks and Turtle release events.
- Conduct data analysis and research on the following fields: Turtle satellite tracking data, migratory patterns, nesting after rehabilitation, etc; medical research on sea turtles in coordination with partnering veterinary lab and clinic.
About you:
- Bachelor’s degree in marine biology, Zoology or related field and 5 years’ experience; or master’s degree in marine biology, Zoology or related field and 2 years’ experience.
- Minimum PADI Rescue Diver qualification or equivalent.
- Proficient level of English spoken and written.
- Great communication skills and advanced computer skills.
- Aquarium related and animal rehabilitation/medical care work experience (desirable).
