Job summary

A leading company in the marine industry is seeking a Technical Superintendent to oversee vessel management and ensure compliance with operational standards. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum Engineering degree and relevant certifications, along with experience in marine operations. Responsibilities include maintaining vessel technical standards, budget planning, and ensuring optimal operation. Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as Chief Engineer onboard vessels.
  • 2–3 years of experience in the marine or offshore industry.
  • Experience with OSV operations or main fleet operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure technical operations comply with company IMS, rules, and regulations.
  • Plan and execute drydock and special survey, keeping within budget.
  • Monitor vessel fuel consumption and optimize usage.

Education

Minimum Engineering Degree (Marine Engineering or equivalent)
Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (CoC) – Class 1 Unlimited

Job description

  • Ensure all technical operations are executed in full compliance with the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS), rules and regulations within the countries that we operate as well as requirements of the charters.
  • Ensure the vessel’s Planned Maintenance System (PMS) tasks are properly planned, and the tasks are realistic, relevant and carried out in a timely, effective and efficient manner.
  • Ensure proper verification and validation are conducted in a timely manner on the completed PMS tasks.
  • Ensure that defects or job cards raised by vessels are tracked and promptly closed out within a reasonable timeline so that the defects do not disrupt vessel operation and on hire status.
  • Track, manage and ensure the vessel operating costs are within the approved vessel’s OPEX budget.
  • Ensure vessel technical document and information is always maintained up to date.
  • Plan the budget and timeline, and execute drydock / special survey, engine overhaul, including conversion / modification (if any), in accordance to company’s IMS and keep within the approved capex budget.
  • Ensure the vessel has sufficient and appropriate critical spare parts / inventory to minimise uninterrupted operation.
  • Set fuel oil consumption KPI, monitor vessel fuel consumption regularly to ensure optimisation of fuel usage and no fuel proliferate.
  • Be responsible to all client and statutory inspections and audits, including proper closure of any punch list on the agreed timeline.
  • Conducting physical stock count onboard vessels on annual basis

Requirements

Minimum Engineering Degree (Marine Engineering or equivalent)

Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (CoC) – Class 1 Unlimited or equivalent

Minimum 1 year of experience as Chief Engineer onboard vessels

2–3 years of experience in the marine or offshore industry

Experience with OSV (Offshore Support Vessels) or main fleet operations

Previous sailing experience on offshore or commercial vessels is essential

Minimum 1 year of direct experience working with Aramco or ADNOC operations, audits, or approvals (a key requirement in the Gulf region)

Strong understanding of marine engineering systems, PMS (Planned Maintenance Systems) , dry docking, class inspections, and compliance

Familiar with digitalization trends in the maritime industry (e.g., remote monitoring, digital PMS, vessel performance systems)
