Why This Role Matters
The Technical Manager plays a critical role in ensuring that all technical aspects of building works are effectively implemented, managed and coordinated throughout the entire project lifecyclefrom design development to construction commissioning and final handover. This role ensures that construction activities are executed in line with approved designs, contractual requirements and applicable standards while maintaining quality, safety and efficiency. By driving coordination across disciplines and proactively resolving technical challenges, the Technical Manager enables seamless project delivery and supports overall project success.
What You’ll Drive
- Lead, organise and manage a team of engineers responsible for technical design coordination and construction preparation across building works (civil, architectural, finishing and MEP interfaces).
- Review, coordinate and validate shop drawings, method statements, technical submittals, material approvals and other technical deliverables related to building works.
- Ensure technical deliverables define short‑term work priorities while maximising quality, efficiency and continuity of construction activities.
- Ensure all building works comply with contract documents, specifications, approved drawings, local authority requirements and applicable codes and standards.
- Coordinate with design consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and internal departments (HSE, Planning, QS, QA/QC, MEP, Construction).
- Provide technical input during tendering, subcontractor evaluation and the awarding of building packages.
- Lead, monitor and coordinate cost analysis and cost control of site activities through the technical team.
- Identify and manage design risks, clashes and constructability issues and propose technical solutions in coordination with the project team.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of as‑built drawings, O&M manuals (building scope) and handover documentation.
- Promote Value Engineering initiatives without compromising quality, safety or contractual obligations.
- Develop and maintain the document control process ensuring all technical documents are issued, tracked, stored and updated.
- Participate in technical meetings with the Client, Consultant and Authorities and prepare technical reports as required.
- Assist in snagging, de‑snagging and final handover activities.
- Support site teams to ensure execution aligns with approved technical documentation.
- Support the project planning team with technical sequencing, constructability reviews and programme optimisation.
- Fully comply with and promote the BESIX Safety First culture, prioritising personal and collective safety in all technical decisions, actions and omissions.
- Respect and enforce Life Saving Rules at all times.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Architectural Engineering or an equivalent field.
- 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in large‑scale building construction projects, including experience leading and guiding teams.
- Fluent in English with strong proficiency in at least one additional European language.
