Job summary

Norconsult Telematics is seeking a senior engineer to lead end-to-end telecom facility design, including data centers, equipment rooms, power systems, and cooling. You will develop HLD/LLD, specify civil requirements, and ensure standards compliance.

You will coordinate with multiple vendors, review designs, and guide project stakeholders through design governance and approvals to deliver resilient, future-ready infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering.
• 10+ years of telecom facilities or data center infrastructure design experience.
• Strong knowledge of power, cooling, and telecom equipment room design standards.
• Experience with multi-vendor facilities solutions and construction supervision.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent design tools.
• Excellent management, leadership, communication and presentation skills.

Lead the end-to-end technical facilities design and engineering activities for all telecom infrastructure, including technical buildings, data centers, equipment rooms, power systems, HVAC/cooling, grounding, and civil works. Responsible for developing compliant, resilient, and future-ready facility designs aligned with project and technology requirements. Manage design governance, technical approvals, standards compliance, and vendor technical evaluations to ensure optimized facility infrastructure that fully supports all network domains.

Job Description & Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end design of technical buildings, equipment rooms, data centers, and network hosting facilities.
• Develop and review High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD) for all facility systems.
• Define civil and structural requirements for cable routing, duct banks, trenches, and equipment foundations.
• Ensure compliance with TIA/EIA, ASHRAE, IEC, and applicable international telecom facility standards.
• Coordinate with network domain teams to align facility capacity and infrastructure with equipment placement requirements.
• Design AC and DC power distribution systems for telecom equipment rooms and data center facilities.
• Define UPS, battery bank, and generator sizing and redundancy architectures.
• Develop power capacity planning, load analysis, and distribution panel design.
• Ensure power system designs comply with safety, resiliency, and redundancy (N+1/2N) requirements.
• Design precision cooling and HVAC solutions for equipment rooms and data centers.
• Define hot/cold aisle containment strategies and airflow management layouts.
• Perform thermal load calculations and cooling capacity sizing.
• Define environmental monitoring systems for temperature, humidity, and water leakage detection.
• Design grounding and bonding systems in accordance with telecom and electrical standards.
• Define electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection measures for sensitive equipment areas.
• Review and approve grounding test reports and certification documents.
• Design cable management systems, containment structures, and routing infrastructure.
• Develop civil and structural design requirements for facility construction and retrofitting activities.
• Define cable pathway, overhead tray, under-floor routing, and containment standards.
• Own the design governance process for all facilities-related design activities.
• Review and approve facility designs, layout drawings, MEP integration models, and vendor submissions.
• Lead technical design review boards, ensuring compliance with engineering, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Assess design risks and ensure mitigation actions are addressed before design sign-off.
• Approve detailed engineering deliverables before implementation and construction phases commence.
• Lead technical evaluation of vendor solutions, architecture proposals, and design submissions.
• Participate in RFI/RFP technical assessment, compliance evaluation, and solution validation activities.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to facilities engineering teams and project stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's or Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in telecom facilities or data center infrastructure design.
• Solid knowledge of power systems, cooling systems, and telecom equipment room design standards.
• Experience with multi-vendor facilities solutions and construction supervision.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent engineering design tools.
