Technical Engineer - Design

Technical Engineer with solid experience in civil and infrastructure projects, focused on design coordination, resolving technical issues, and ensuring smooth delivery from design to construction.

About Your Team

You’ll report to the Engineering Lead and support technical delivery across UAE operations, working on projects within either ALEC Building or the Group’s affiliated businesses.

You can be based at any of our offices across the UAE, with a requirement to be in the Dubai Marina Head Office just 2 days a week. Our technical team is on a strong growth trajectory, expanding to support large-scale, high-impact projects across the GCC. Your Role

• Review tender and IFC drawings, BIM models, and asset data for accuracy and compliance
• Resolve design conflicts through RFIs, CVIs, and coordination workshops
• Manage civil/infrastructure deliverables during design and construction stages
• Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and consultants for smooth information flow
• Support design submittals, subcontractor reviews, and technical documentation
• Ensure timely updates of shop drawings and provide accurate information to modelers/drafters
• Track drawing delivery schedules and manage document control handovers
• Follow up on DFCs (Design for Construction), EIs (Engineering Instructions), and DCRs (Design Change Requests)
• Respond to site technical queries and collaborate with Planning and Temporary Works teams
• Oversee as-built and redline processes, ensuring drawing accuracy and completeness

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a design office with a contractor or subcontractor
• Background in civil/infrastructure projects and multidisciplinary coordination
• Strong knowledge of 2D/3D design workflows, shop drawings, and documentation
• Familiar with BIM principles and Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Acrobat, and MS Office
• Working knowledge of Revizto, Navisworks, or similar tools
• Skilled in RFIs, CVIs, technical coordination, and document control
• Diploma in Civil Engineering required; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Team player with a proactive mindset and attention to detail
