Job description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in road and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in utility standards and capable of managing design coordination and technical submissions effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical / Site Engineering

  • Assess field conditions such as utility conflicts, excavation challenges, and soil limitations; recommend appropriate technical solutions.
  • Provide on-site support by addressing engineering issues promptly during construction.
  • Assist with inspections and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with local standards (e.g., ADDC, ITC).
  • Supervise the installation of utilities including drainage, potable water, stormwater systems, telecom (MCC, DU, Etisalat, ITC), and street lighting.

2. Design Coordination & Office Engineering

  • Manage the preparation, review, and submission of shop drawings and method statements.
  • Analyze consultant drawings, suggest improvements, and coordinate necessary revisions.
  • Lead the coordination of detailed designs and collaborate closely with design consultants and engineering teams.
  • Address technical queries (RFIs) and provide effective solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

3. Documentation & Approvals

  • Maintain accurate records of engineering deliverables, submission status, and approval tracking.
  • Coordinate with relevant authorities for permits and technical approvals.
  • Prepare and submit technical reports, memos, and presentation materials for internal teams and clients.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or an equivalent discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in road and infrastructure projects, preferably within Abu Dhabi.
  • Strong understanding of utility standards for water, drainage, telecom, and street lighting.
  • Proven track record in managing technical submissions, shop drawings, and design coordination.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and preferably Primavera or MS Project.
  • Fluent in both Arabic and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented, solution-driven, and capable of meeting tight deadlines with minimal cost/time impact.

Preferred Software & BIM Skills:

  • Aconex / Revizto: Used for RFI tracking, model collaboration, and BIM coordination.
  • Infra Works: For conceptual infrastructure design integrated with GIS data.
  • Revit: Multi-discipline BIM modelling for accurate documentation and coordination.
  • Navisworks: For clash detection, 4D simulation, and project visualization.
  • Open Roads Designer / Concept Station: Advanced tools for road and utility design.
  • MicroStation: Used for 2D/3D CAD drafting and modelling in infrastructure projects.
  • Tekla Structures: For structural detailing, shop drawing automation, and coordination.
  • All plan Infrastructure / BIM: For complex infrastructure modelling, quantity take-offs, and reinforcement detailing.
