Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Abu Dhabi seeks a Technical Coordinator - Electrical to support planning, coordination, and execution of electrical engineering activities for power generation and distribution projects. You will interface with engineering, project management, procurement, construction, and clients to ensure timely delivery and compliance with standards.

The role requires strong technical expertise, ability to manage multiple priorities, and commitment to safety, quality, and project performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in electrical engineering or project coordination in power/energy/EPC.
• Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, NFPA and local regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP and EPLAN.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate electrical engineering activities across power projects from design through commissioning.
• Review and monitor electrical drawings, SLDs, load calculations and technical specs.
• Liaise with consultants, contractors, vendors and internal stakeholders to meet project requirements.
• Track project schedules and support resolution of technical issues.
• Coordinate procurement for electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, cables and protection systems.
• Monitor installation, testing and commissioning to ensure compliance with specs and standards.
• Facilitate technical discussions, design reviews and project coordination meetings.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations and company standards.
• Review submittals, method statements, inspection reports and vendor documentation.
• Support teams in preparing progress reports, risk assessments and project updates.
• Coordinate with QA/QC to achieve quality during execution.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving electrical system issues in construction and operation.
• Maintain project documentation and records throughout lifecycle.

Overview

The Technical Coordinator - Electrical will support the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical engineering activities for power generation, transmission, distribution, and industrial power projects. The role acts as a key interface between engineering, project management, procurement, construction, and client teams to ensure timely project delivery and compliance with technical standards. The position requires strong technical expertise, coordination skills, and a focus on quality, safety, and operational excellence.

Your role

• Coordinate electrical engineering activities across power projects from design through commissioning.


• Review and monitor electrical drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), load calculations, and technical specifications.


• Liaise with engineering consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.


• Track project schedules and support timely resolution of technical issues affecting project execution.


• Coordinate procurement activities for electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgears, cables, protection systems, and related components.


• Monitor installation, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.


• Facilitate technical discussions, design reviews, and project coordination meetings.


• Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and company standards.


• Review technical submittals, method statements, inspection reports, and vendor documentation.

About You

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.


• 5-10 years of experience in electrical engineering or project coordination within the power, energy, utility, or EPC sector.


• Strong knowledge of power systems, substations, switchgear, transformers, and electrical distribution networks.


• Experience in power generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, or industrial power projects.


• Familiarity with international standards such as IEC, IEEE, NFPA, and local regulatory requirements.


• Proficiency in electrical design and engineering software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, EPLAN, or equivalent tools.


• Strong understanding of testing, commissioning, and maintenance practices for electrical systems.


• Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.


• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.


• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
