Job Summary

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Technical Buyer (Mechanical Maintenance) with proven experience in the Oil & Gas industry to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the procurement of mechanical equipment and materials, ensuring timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and strict compliance with technical, contractual, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end procurement processes for mechanical equipment and materials.
  • Analyze technical specifications and collaborate with engineering teams to ensure procurement aligns with project needs.
  • Prepare and issue RFQs, evaluate supplier bids, and conduct commercial and technical assessments.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with vendors.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure adherence to quality and delivery standards.
  • Conduct supplier audits and inspections in coordination with the QA/QC team.
  • Ensure all procured items meet project-specific quality standards and international codes (e.g., ASME, API).
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation in ERP systems.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, project requirements, and industry standards.
  • Support cost control and budgeting efforts by identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed university
  • Minimum 10 years of procurement experience in the Oil & Gas sector, with a focus on mechanical equipment and materials; strong understanding of mechanical systems and components used in oil & gas projects.
  • Familiarity with international procurement and quality standards.
  • Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
Software & Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or IFS.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with e-procurement platforms and supplier management tools.
  • Familiarity with document control systems and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate reports using Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charts).
Preferred Attributes
  • Experience with mechanical engineering construction projects within the oil & gas industry. Preferably in the Petrochemical, Power and Utilities sector.
  • Knowledge of local and regional supplier markets in the UAE with strong understanding of technical specs of equipment and materials
  • Professional certifications such as CIPS, PMP, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Experience working with QA/QC teams and understanding of inspection and testing procedures.
  • Experience with project planning and preparation of detailed procurement plans
