Job summary

A&O Shearman is recruiting an associate to join the Digital, Data, IP and Technology group in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The team advises on complex technology transactions, IP licensing and data privacy matters for UAE and regional clients, with cross-border work and collaboration within the global firm.

The role requires 1–5 PQE in commercial/DDIT contracts, strong IP/Data privacy knowledge, and the ability to handle fast-paced, high-value matters for government and private sector clients.

Qualifications

• 1-5 PQE, strong knowledge of commercial/DDIT contracts.
• Experience drafting, analysing and negotiating software licences/SaaS and IP licensing.
• Familiarity with UAE data protection, privacy and cybersecurity law is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, amend and negotiate DDIT agreements.
• Provide strategic advice within the DDIT mandate.
• Manage client expectations and project delivery.
• Support business development and client campaigns.
