Role Overview

The Coastal Modelling Team Lead oversees a specialized team responsible for developing and implementing ocean and coastal models supporting Ports & Marine Projects worldwide. The role involves leading high-quality project outputs, ensuring compliance, fostering innovation, and developing team capabilities.

This position can be based in Dubai, Cape Town, or Madrid.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor the coastal modelling team, providing technical guidance.
  • Develop a regional centre of expertise in Marine and Coastal modelling.
  • Create and implement coastal models to analyze and predict coastal processes.
  • Collaborate with international project teams to deliver expert solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and stakeholder presentations.
  • Stay abreast of advances in coastal modelling and incorporate new techniques.
  • Manage project budgets and timelines for efficient delivery.

Provide technical advice across various specialist areas, including:

  • Coastal and physical modelling
  • Marine sea state analysis
  • Coastal engineering and zone management
  • Structural design (e.g., revetments, breakwaters)
  • Navigation, port operations, and mooring analysis
  • Dredging, beach nourishment
  • Climate change adaptation
  • Water quality and effluent dispersion modeling
  • Site investigations
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Marine or Coastal Engineering, Oceanography, Physics, Mathematics, or related field
Experience
  • Minimum 15 years in marine and coastal numerical modelling
  • Expertise in state-of-the-art numerical modelling approaches
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Leadership and project management experience
  • Proficiency with commercial and non-commercial modelling tools
  • Understanding of coastal sedimentary processes
