Job summary

Abu Dhabi University is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support faculty in large undergraduate and postgraduate classes. You will help organize learning activities, assist with grading, and prepare course files and materials for the learning management system.

Under supervision, you will conduct tutorials, proctor exams, track attendance and grades, and help maintain up-to-date student records. English is essential; Arabic is preferred.

• Bachelor for TA and Master for GTA in related field.
• High GPA and distinguished academic performance.
• Professional certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports faculty members in managing teaching activities at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Organizes joint tutorial sessions for students with faculty.
• Conducts independent tutorials for students under faculty supervision outside regular classes.
• Assists with preparing course files/materials/assignments and uploads learning materials to the LMS.
• Takes attendance and uploads absence records and assessment results to student records.
• Helps proctor exams, reports grades, and uploads grades to the system.
• Allocates weekly office hours and conducts laboratory sessions when applicable.
• Assists with research activities and accreditation document preparation.
• Coordinates curriculum development and refinement; supports QA duties for the College.

The purpose of this role is to provide assistance to faculty members in large classes in learning activities, grading and other administrative activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Supports faculty members in managing the various aspects of their teaching activities at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Organizes joint tutorial sessions for students with the faculty members.
• Conducts independent tutorial sessions for students under the faculty supervision outside the regular classes.
• Provides limited coverage for the faculty when they are away attending research conferences outside campus.
• Assists faculty members with preparing course files/materials/assignments, compiling course material, and uploading learning materials to learning management system for students’ access.
• Takes students’ attendance and uploads online absence records and other students’ assessment results to maintain accurate and up-to-date student records.
• Helps with proctoring exams, reporting grades, and uploading grades to the system. Participates in class discussions and exercises (on line and face to face) in order to be able to help the students outside the class as required.
• Allocates weekly office hours for each course to assist students with their difficulties. Conducts laboratory sessions, when applicable, ensures labs are stocked with required consumables, and observes equipment to ensure they are maintained and operative.
• Assist faculty members with research activities.
• Assist with course files completion and compilation of accreditation documents.
• Coordinate the development and refinement of curricula.
• Assist faculty members with assessments and grading.
• Supervise and monitor Program delivery and effectiveness as per accreditation criteria and business plan
• Support of Quality Assurance duties for the College of Business
• Any other duties directed by the Dean.

Minimum Educational Qualifications Required

• Bachelor for TA & Master for GTA degree in related field
• High GPA, Distinguished academic performance Professional certification preferred
