Job description

Aldar Academies are currently seeking an outstanding Teacher of Computing/ICT for Al Ain British Academy, commencing August 2025. The school offers a comprehensive Key Stage 3 course in Computing, with both Computer Science and ICT available at GCSE, and Computer Science at A-level.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the highly successful Aldar family.

Al Ain British Academy opened in September 2011 providing high quality education in the heritage Garden City of the United Arab Emirates. The children are taught the English National Curriculum tailored to be meaningful to children living in Al Ain. Facilities at the school are excellent and include a large astro-turf field, two swimming pools, well-stocked library, a large multi-purpose sports hall, an auditorium and outdoor play areas. It is an exciting, challenging and enjoyable school to work in where achievement for pupils is at the heart of all we do. Candidates must have a secure knowledge of teaching the English National Curriculum and GCSE. Experience of teaching students for whom English is not their first language, would be an advantage. Potential candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of implementing effective strategies to raise standards and plug gaps in learning to ensure outstanding progress for all. They will be able to demonstrate leadership skills/experiences at a variety of levels and to be effective in working collaboratively in a team.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of degree in related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching Qualification.

Minimum of 2 years experience as a Computing/Computer Science/ICT Teacher in the English Curriculum.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning for outstanding teaching and learning, in line with the school's Teaching and Learning Policy, through:

  • Creating a climate for learning that is conducive for outstanding practice;
  • Identifying clear teaching and learning objectives;
  • Setting clear targets, building on prior attainment;
  • Identifying SEN (POD), EAL and G&T students and ensuring that their needs are met through differentiation;
  • Providing clear structure and planning for lessons and learning activities that maintain pace, challenge and engagement;
  • Making effective use of assessment for learning;
  • Making effective use of performance data and key indicators to inform planning and therefore deliver differentiated lessons;
  • Making effective use of ICT to enhance learning and progress
  • Maintaining discipline in accordance with the school s Behaviour for Learning Policy and encouraging good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework;
  • Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use them to improve specific aspects of teaching and learning;
