Role Context

The Music Teacher is responsible for creating a stimulating learning environment where students can develop musical knowledge, practical skills, creativity and confidence. The role combines curriculum delivery, classroom management, assessment and extracurricular participation while ensuring students of different abilities are appropriately challenged and supported. Music also contributes to the wider cultural and community life of the school. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging music lessons aligned with curriculum expectations.
• Create learning experiences that inspire students and support strong academic and personal outcomes.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students across different ability levels.
• Organise classroom resources, instruments and displays to create an engaging learning environment.
• Use enthusiastic and imaginative teaching approaches to encourage active participation.
• Take responsibility for student progress within assigned classes.
• Observe, assess and record student development in accordance with school procedures.
• Use Target Tracker and relevant assessment information to monitor progress and inform future planning.
• Analyze assessment data to identify learning gaps and adjust teaching, provision or intervention where required.
• Provide clear and constructive feedback that helps students understand how to improve.
• Communicate student achievement, development and wellbeing to parents and carers during conferences and other meetings.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and apply the school 's behaviour policy consistently.
• Use classroom management approaches appropriate to individual student needs.
• Build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional authority.
• Encourage self-control, independence, confidence and responsibility among learners.
• Work collaboratively with fellow teachers to plan lessons, resources and curriculum activities.
• Contribute to curriculum action groups supporting planning, assessment, special events and resource development.
• Coordinate effectively with curriculum support staff where additional student support is required.

Ideal Profile
