Responsibilities

Main Duties:

  1. Deliver lessons that inspire students to succeed and achieve their best outcomes.
  2. Promote teamwork and collaboration.
  3. Communicate effectively at all levels.
  4. Develop positive relationships within the school community.
  5. Plan engaging lessons in collaboration with colleagues that meet curriculum requirements.
  6. Coordinate with colleagues and work flexibly.
  7. Engage with parents to ensure student happiness and academic success.
  8. Collaborate with curriculum support staff to support student development.

Teaching and Learning:

  1. Understand the curriculum thoroughly.
  2. Organize classroom resources and create displays to foster a positive learning environment.
  3. Plan, prepare, and deliver sessions catering to diverse student needs.
  4. Motivate students through enthusiastic and creative teaching methods.
  5. Assess and observe students in line with school policies.
  6. Reflect on teaching practices and adjust strategies accordingly.
  7. Coordinate with specialists such as speech therapists and psychologists when needed.

Behaviour Management and Duties:

  1. Adhere to the school's behaviour policy.
  2. Manage classes effectively, inspiring and motivating students.
  3. Maintain good relationships and exercise appropriate authority.
  4. Model positive attitudes and behaviour expected of pupils.
  5. Set high expectations for behaviour, promoting self-control and independence.
  6. Perform duties as directed within school policies.

Wider Professional Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in curriculum planning, assessment, and school events.
  2. Support extracurricular activities and school functions, including those outside regular hours.
  3. Communicate with parents regarding student progress and well-being.
  4. Contribute positively to the school community and ethos.
  5. Lead a weekly extracurricular activity each term.

Assessment and Data:

  1. Take responsibility for student progress.
  2. Record and assess student development accurately.
  3. Use assessment data to inform planning and interventions.
  4. Provide feedback to parents during conferences and meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.

Minimum Experience: 1-2 years of teaching experience.

  • Experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
