Job summary

Aldar Academies is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support the educational and social development of students with additional needs. Job description

Provide early intervention to promote the educational and social development of identified pupil/s under the direction and guidance of the Head of Inclusion.

Teaching and learning:
  1. Clear understanding of the British Curriculum.
  2. Meet with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, if required.
  3. Work with the Head of Inclusion to ensure that learning requirements are met in terms of reasonable adjustments and access arrangements.
  4. Plan and deliver interventions for students of determination across the primary school.
  5. Support EAL students.
  6. Coordinate in-class support for both students of determination and gifted and talented students.
  7. Support the writing and reviewing of IEPs to track progress.
  8. Update SEN/POD register.
  9. Consolidate data as required across subjects and years.
  10. Maintain G & T register and create/monitor Advance Learning Plans.
  11. Liaise with teachers to support them and advise on strategies as appropriate.
Assessment and data:
  1. Use data provided by assessments to influence further planning, provision, and intervention.
  2. Provide feedback to parents and carers on a student's progress at Parent-Teacher Conferences and other meetings.
Behaviour management and duties:
  1. Follow the school's established policies and procedures, e.g., behaviour, code of conduct, and child safeguarding policy.
  2. Manage classes effectively, using approaches appropriate to students' needs to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
  3. Maintain good relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively within the school's policies.
  4. Be a positive role model, demonstrating consistently the attitudes, values, and behaviour expected of pupils.
  5. Have high expectations of good conduct, promoting self-control and independence of all learners.
  6. Ensure a safe and secure environment that fosters social, emotional, and academic growth for all students.
  7. Carry out duties as directed within the school's policies.
Wider professional responsibilities:
  1. Support in organizing and participating in school events, outings, and ECAs, which may occur after school hours.
  2. Communicate effectively with parents/carers regarding students' achievements and well-being using school systems.
  3. Contribute positively to the wider life and ethos of the school.
  4. Engage in professional development to ensure high-quality teaching and effective execution of roles and responsibilities.
Requirements:
  1. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification in SEN.
  2. Minimum Experience: At least 2 years working with SEN/POD children.

  4. Mandatory experience working in an international school.
  5. Previous experience with students with additional learning needs in a primary setting.
  6. Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
