Job summary

Aldar Education is seeking a Teacher for Design Technology to join our Abu Dhabi schools from January 2027. The role focuses on delivering engaging Design Technology lessons across the curriculum, supporting learners of varied abilities and backgrounds, including EAL students.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor's Degree in a related subject with PGCE, have at least two years of experience, and be prepared to deliver lessons in hybrid or on-site settings within an international school

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
• Mandatory experience working in an international school.
• Experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.

Responsibilities

• Teach Design Technology following the curriculum and schemes of work.
• Plan lessons to meet learners of all abilities and provide engaging sessions.
• Create a positive, inclusive learning environment with displays and resources.
• Support SEN, EAL and G&T students through differentiation.
• Deliver Hybrid/Distance/Face-to-Face lessons as required by the school policies.

Responsibilities

Teaching and learning:

• Demonstrating a clear understanding of the Curriculum for effective implementation to match learning outcomes.
• Teaching using appropriate syllabus, materials, and schemes of work to develop students’ skills in science specialisms.
• Organizing the classroom provision and learning resources and creating displays to encourage a positive and engaging learning environment.
• Planning, preparing, and presenting sessions that cater to the needs of the whole ability range within the class.
• To plan lessons and sequences of lessons consistently and effectively, in the long, medium and short-term, to meet pupils’ individual learning needs.
• Creating a climate for learning that is conducive to delivering outstanding practice.
• Motivating students by delivering enjoyable and creative lessons that both challenges pupils and promotes critical thinking.
• Identifying clear teaching and learning objectives and ensuring student achievement against these.
• Being reflective of the classroom provision, sessions taught, progress made, and adjusting environment, planning and curriculum to reflect this.
• Supporting SEN (POD), EAL and G&T students and ensuring that their needs are met through differentiation.
• Facilitating Hybrid / Distance Learning / Face to Face lessons.

Behaviour management and duties:

• Follow the school’s established policies and procedures, e.g., behaviour, code of conduct and child safeguarding policy.
• Manage classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to students’ needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
• Maintain good relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively, when necessary, within the school’s established policies.
• Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values, and behaviour, which are expected of pupils.
• Have high expectations of good conduct, promoting self-control and independence of all learners.
• To ensure a safe and secure environment that allows for appropriate social, emotional, and academic growth for all students.
• Carry out duties as directed and within the school’s established policies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.

Minimum Experience:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a similar role.
