Job summary

Job description

Responsibilities
  • To inspire, engage and challenge students in their formative years by creating a nurturing and play-based learning environment.
  • Deliver high quality teaching and inclusive learning experiences that spark curiosity, encourage creativity and support students academic, social and personal development.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the curriculum for effective implementation to match learning outcomes.
  • Use appropriate syllabus, materials and schemes of work to develop students' skills in science specialisms.
  • Organise classroom provision and learning resources and create displays to encourage a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Plan, prepare and present sessions that cater to the needs of the whole ability range within the class.
  • Plan lessons and sequences consistently and effectively in the long, medium and short term to meet pupils' individual learning needs.
  • Create a climate for learning that is conducive to outstanding practice.
  • Motivate students by delivering enjoyable and creative lessons that challenge pupils and promote critical thinking.
  • Identify clear teaching and learning objectives and ensure student achievement against these.
  • Reflect on classroom provision, sessions taught, progress made and adjust environment, planning and curriculum accordingly.
  • Support SEN, POD, EAL and G & T students and ensure their needs are met through differentiation.
  • Facilitate hybrid, distance learning and face‑to‑face lessons.
  • Follow the school’s established policies and procedures (behaviour code, child safeguarding policy, etc.).
  • Manage classes effectively using approaches appropriate to students’ needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
  • Maintain good relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority and act decisively when necessary.
  • Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour expected of pupils.
  • Promote self‑control and independence of all learners.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment that allows for appropriate social, emotional and academic growth for all students.
  • Carry out duties as directed within the school’s established policies.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a similar role.
  • Mandatory experience working in an international school.
  • Experience working with students whose English is not their first language (EAL students).
