Responsibilities

Main Duties:

  • Deliver lessons that inspire students to succeed and achieve their best outcomes.
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Develop positive relationships with all school community members.
  • Plan engaging lessons with colleagues that meet curriculum requirements.
  • Collaborate flexibly with colleagues.
  • Work with parents to ensure student happiness and academic success.
  • Support children's development alongside curriculum support staff where applicable.

Teaching and Learning:

  • Possess a clear understanding of the curriculum.
  • Organize classroom resources and create displays to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver sessions catering to diverse ability levels.
  • Motivate pupils through enthusiastic teaching.
  • Observe and assess children according to school assessments.
  • Reflect on classroom sessions and adjust planning and environment accordingly.
  • Collaborate with professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists as needed.

Behaviour Management and Duties:

  • Follow the school's behaviour policy.
  • Manage classes effectively using approaches suitable for students' needs.
  • Maintain good relationships with pupils, exercising appropriate authority.
  • Be a positive role model demonstrating expected attitudes and behaviour.
  • Set high expectations for behaviour, promoting self-control and independence.
  • Perform duties as directed within the school's policies.

Wider Professional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in curriculum action groups for planning, assessment, and events.
  • Assist in organizing school events, outings, and activities, including weekends and evenings.
  • Communicate with parents/carers about student achievements and well-being via school systems like CPOMS.
  • Contribute positively to the school's ethos.
  • Lead a weekly extracurricular activity each term.

Assessment and Data:

  • Take responsibility for the progress of your class.
  • Meet assessment and recording requirements.
  • Use assessment data to inform planning and interventions.
  • Provide feedback to parents/carers during meetings about student progress.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.

Minimum Experience:

  • 1-2 years of teaching experience.

Job Specific Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
  • Passion for teaching and dedication to educating the whole child.
  • Professionalism and concern for children's well-being.
  • Recent involvement in extracurricular activities.
  • Respect for all community members regardless of position, gender, age, or ethnicity.
  • Positive, solution-focused attitude towards work.
